Engineering works taking place on Greenmount Hill

4 June 2015

City of Gold Coast will this month be carrying out engineering works on Greenmount Hill.

The works involve stabilising a number of large rocks on the slopes within Pat Fagan Park and removing some smaller rocks to eliminate the risk of rock fall.

The walking track will be closed tomorrow and remain closed until the works finish in around six weeks.

Erosion has caused instability and so to protect the area and to make it safe, the boulders will be pinned and meshed with some of the smaller boulders removed.

Tree works and ongoing vegetation management will support the engineered rock works. Greenmount’s iconic Norfolk pines will remain.

The City understands the closure may inconvenience locals who regularly use the walking track but will work with the contractor to minimise noise levels and disruptions to park users.

Safety is the City’s main priority.
