Gold Coast Water and Waste update
31 March 2017Water
- Approximately 20 properties are still experiencing a water outage in Worongary Road and Glenaura Drive, Tallai.
- Customer Liaison Officer is on site to door knock these properties and deliver bottled water.
- Crews are on site making repairs.
- Water tankers are feeding into the network to supply impacted customers, and some of these customers may experience reduced water pressure during the repair period.
- Restoration is projected to be 6-7pm tonight.
- All water reservoirs have been inspected and no damage or problems have been identified.
- Overall water supply and water quality across the City remains good.
Sewerage
- All City sewage treatment plants are operating
- City sewerage pump stations are operating
- Sewage back-flow has occurred at 4 properties. Customer Liaison Officers are looking after these customers.
Waste
- Normal scheduled waste collections continue. This includes the general, recycling, and green waste wheelie bin service.
- Some service areas may be impacted due to localised flooding.
- Customers are reminded to leave their bin out if their service has been missed.
- Any missed waste services will be caught up as soon as practicable.
- All waste and recycling centres are operating except for Currumbin, Merrimac and Jacobs Well due to flooded road access. Other centres will remain open subject to local road access.
- The Stapylton Landfill is now closed due to localised flooding. All commercial operators should divert to the Reedy Creek Landfill site.
- There are no plans for a city-wide green waste collection or clean up.
- Customers are encouraged to take green waste to either Reedy Creek or Molendinar Waste and Recycle Centres, which are our preferred sites, to minimise waiting times.
- We anticipate an increased number of customers will attend our Waste and Recycle Centres over the weekend and longer customer waiting times may be experienced.
- We appreciate your patience and encourage you to time your visit outside of peak periods. Consider dropping off your waste either early morning or late afternoon.
